More information about Zolan... by Xiomara Puño

Donald Zolan

When I was doing my  reasearch for the project I saw a touching picture and I wanted to know about the author. He is Donald Zolan. He was born in 1937 and grew up in Brookfield, Illinois with a family of artists. He started drawing at age three. He was working in watercolors and winning local competitions at the age of five. When he was thirteen, he won a scholarship for the prestigious Art Institute of Chicago. His pictures are in the best gallerys of art and museums. We can see them in dishes, dollys, congratulation cards too.

I like his pictures, because he only paints children. I can see love and happyness in his works. They look real and unreal for moments. The children express their emotions, and they are portayed with  nature and animals. His pictures symbolize the  children’s hearts. I think that Donald preserves the amazing feeling of a child. We should do the same.
